Projects make my world go ’round. Here’s what I’m working on now.
BRAVE: Bridging Resources to Achieve Victories in Education
Launching in Fall 2013, BRAVE is a mentoring initiative at the University of Memphis funded by a three-year grant from the Tennessee Board of Regents Access and Diversity Program. In partnership with SisterReach and founding CEO Cherisse A. Scott, BRAVE features a series of workshops on reproductive justice, academic social capital, cultural capital, and life skills aimed and supporting women of color undergraduates and recruiting women of color seniors to the University of Memphis.
The Plant-Based Food Festival
Launched by Omo Esudele of the Natural House of Wellness in Memphis, the Plant-Based Food Festival is a grassroots healthy eating movement that advocates increasing the amount of plant-based foods in our diets. The Festival is held each June, and hosted its second annual event in Overton Park in June 2013. As a part of the Festival’s organization team, I coordinated vendors, volunteers, and Festival personnel. Visit the Plant-Based Food Festival’s Facebook page to get updates.
